Dear Shawn,
The subject of the exhibition relates to the aftermath of the internment of all the Japanese American and Japanese Nationals living on the west coast in 1942. The show Manzanar Pilgrimage will open Feb.2 at Soka University of America, www.soka.edu with the reception on Feb. 12, 2009 at 5:30 pm. I have more information on my website (www.manzanarpilgrimage.com) see exhibitions.
I am also working towards a exhibit, "Photographs In Protest", (prop 8 protests) at the Center at Long Beach.

Thank You for you interest in this work.
Sincerely, Mark
P.S. I think you have a great smile in the photo, very natural!

Hi, Shawn. I've just signed up to your group. I am an attorney in Orange County and would be interested in assisting in whatever way I could be useful.

Hi Shawn,
Do you know anything about a scheduled protest at Saddleback this coming Sunday? I heard there was to be one, but have no other information.

Shawn,

Thanks so much for the info about Camp Courage. I've RSVP'd and look forward to seeing you there. Also, the activists you met at Hot Java a few weeks back will be convening again in early January. I hope you will come join us.

Cheers!

3 arrested in N. California lesbian gang rape case

One man and two teens have been arrested on suspicion of gang-raping a woman last month in the San Francisco Bay area while allegedly taunting her for being a lesbian, police said Thursday as they searched for a fourth suspect.

Officers arrested 31-year-old Humberto Hernandez Salvador at his Richmond home Wednesday night, Richmond police Lt. Mark Gagan said. The suspect is being held without bail on gang rape, kidnapping and carjacking charges.

Police also arrested a 15-year-old Richmond boy a… Continue

Support for Richmond Attack Victim

On December 13th, a twenty-eight-year-old California woman was brutally raped by four men because she is a lesbian and had a rainbow sticker on her car.

California Faith for Equality

A much needed and timely group has emerged to proclaim loud and clear that most people of faith do not support intolerance. Most importantly they provide resources to speak at churches and congregations to teach tolerance.

As people of faith, many of us are called to act for justice. To heal the rift between faith communities and lesbian gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people, we are driven to engage ourContinue

Pope: LBGT Pose Global Threat to Humanity

In light of the violent acts of rape, arson, and murder routinely committed against our community I am concerned that such headlines will invite even more violence against us.

In this most recent attack, LBGT are compared to a global scourge that threatens to destroy humanity.

Anti-LBGT Initiative "License" for Prejudice

When Pastor Warren compares our community to deviants and predators it creates violence against us. When the faith press repeatedly describes our peaceful movement as a violent campaign, it creates violence against us.

Via Associated Press:

"Anytime there is an anti-LGBT initiative, we tend to see spikes both in the numbers and the severity of attacks," he said. "People feel this extra entitlement to act out their prejudice." --Richmond police Lt. Mark Gagan
