San Francisco Chronicle
is reporting that sponsors of Proposition 8 asked the California Supreme Court on Friday to
nullify the marriages of the estimated 18,000 same-sex couples who exchanged vows before voters approved the ballot initiative that outlawed gay unions.

This is a dark day for supporters of Proposition 8. Their road to rehabilitation and reconciliation will be long and difficult and it will take years for them to live down this this legacy of prejudice that they are now creating.
