Dear Shawn,
The subject of the exhibition relates to the aftermath of the internment of all the Japanese American and Japanese Nationals living on the west coast in 1942. The show Manzanar Pilgrimage will open Feb.2 at Soka University of America, www.soka.edu with the reception on Feb. 12, 2009 at 5:30 pm. I have more information on my website (www.manzanarpilgrimage.com) see exhibitions.
I am also working towards a exhibit, "Photographs In Protest", (prop 8 protests) at the Center at Long Beach.
Thank You for you interest in this work.
Sincerely, Mark
P.S. I think you have a great smile in the photo, very natural!
Shawn and Chris, I have an exhibition of photographs opening Feb, 12, 2009

Hi, Shawn. I've just signed up to your group. I am an attorney in Orange County and would be interested in assisting in whatever way I could be useful.
Hi Shawn,
Do you know anything about a scheduled protest at Saddleback this coming Sunday? I heard there was to be one, but have no other information.
Carmen
Dear Shawn,
Happy New Year. Hope to send photos this weekend.
Did the million man march Jan 19 2009 get canceled?
I wanted to go. Any info would be helpful.
Sincerely,
Mark

Thanks so much for the info about Camp Courage. I've RSVP'd and look forward to seeing you there. Also, the activists you met at Hot Java a few weeks back will be convening again in early January. I hope you will come join us.
Cheers!

I am sorry Shawn, I did not get the phographer's last name. His first name is Mark. i believe he lives in Newport Beach. Hope you are able to get in contact with him. Love Heather
So sorry I didn't see your message earlier. I am really having a time keeping up with the all of the new grassroots organizations such as The 8 Accountability Project. And the energy at the Courage Campaign is blowing everyone away with projects like MILK + LOVE (which hopefully added to the attendance at the Belmont Shore vigil last night), the Rick Warren Debate Petition, and Please Don't Divorce Us - Photo Project. Thank you for featuring the photo project on the main page of your site. I work for Courage from my apartment in Silver Lake as the Grassroots Organizing Coordinator. I've been seeing your work and we should meet soon. Not only are you blazing activist trails in Long Beach, I friggin' grew up in LB. And I visit my mom - who'd getting up in years - at her place near the East Village in LB every other weekend. So please be in touch and I'll grab a bite to eat or a cup of coffee with you when I'm down your way. I want to hear about your future plans and offer any help that Courage can give you. (It's easiest to email me at the addresses below or call any time.)
Best-

i know there is are not many people from fresno on this site, but thanks for making it. im actully trying to make ErasetheH8 into a state wide thing. im trying to put together a webpage for it with instructuons on who to do them in your own community, where to get the info on who donated, our right to gather on public and private property, and stuff like that.
Hi Shawn,
I saw that you added a Million Person march to the calendar, but I don't think it will be happening so soon. I haven't heard anything yet. Who did you get the info from? Have them contact me so we can help get it out when it is supposed to happen. tina@equalityactionNOW.org

There is so much going on. We are actually a new group - and what we want to do is work together with as many existing groups as possible. We have over 100 people actively involved in various committees. We had over 200 people attend our meetings and we have been raising some cash! We are meeting again on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 5:00 and I will keep you posted. This is a little post from our last meeting:
At our last OCEC meeting on Saturday, Nov. 22, we had two amazing speakers. Katherine Darmer, Professor of Law from the Chapman University School of Law and the Chair of our Legal Committee, spoke to our group of over 100 community members about the California Supreme Court decision to hear the case against prop 8 and what this means. We were also very fortunate to get the support of the MAYOR of Irvine, Beth Krom, who spoke passionately about the significance of our mission to achieve equal rights for all. What a great start for an organization that is less than one month old!
How can you get productively involved in this powerful movement? We have so many opportunities! If you want to get active in promoting awareness and fighting for equal rights and same-sex marriage, please come to our next OCEC meeting on Saturday, December 13 at 5:00 (detail will be posted). If you cannot wait and want to do something NOW, email us at ocequality@gmail.com and join a committee. If you have special skills or a particular interest in one of the following areas, let us know and we will direct you to the appropriate person.
Community Outreach, Activism, Legal, PR/Marketing, Web/IT, Financial, Research and Development, Storytelling, Event Planning, and Interfaith.

Hi Shawn - Great work! My name is Laura Kanter and I am the Executive Vice-Chair of a newly forming organization in Orange County, The Orange County Equality Coalition. This very quickly growing group has evolved out of the no on 8 campaign here in OC, in an effort to build a coalition of support and develop a stronger presence and community. I made a request to be the Orange County Accountability Group Leader in the hopes we can work with you to spread the word here in OC. We will have our website up soon, but for some info you can go to the OCEC group on facebook. Thanks! Good luck.
The only Hot Java I know (lol) - corner of Broadway & Redondo. Can't wait to meet you.

P.S. Just had a conversation with one of the Signal Hill councilmembers - have you had a chance to read my message regarding a potential demonstration of their treasurer?
