This event is being organized by Join the Impact on a national level and The 8 Accountability Project in Long Beach as part of Join the Impact's Light up the Night for Equal Rights on December 20th at 5:00 PM.

This national event and food drive will take place locally in Belmont Shore (and other locations in Long Beach).

See the bottom of the page for what to bring for the food drive, if you wish to participate.

This will be a happy occasion in the spirit of the hollidays, no signs, no shouting, and we will line 2nd st with candles for 1/2 mile in either direction.

This event will also put a face on our LBGT dollars!!

Feel free to wear your White Knots for the event, wear your T-Shirt for the event, or just come as you are in the holiday spirit.

We will be joined by a faith based organiztion wearing red "Love" T-shirts, working side-by-side with us, and supporting the cause of equality for all.

Belmont Shore is a great town, very supportive, and it should be a very good event taking place amid the holidays and the boat parade in Naples.

This is a sidewalk event, we will not be in the street. We will not block traffic or interfere with anyone entering stores. It's just a friendly holiday occasion and it will be a special night.

Invite friends for dinner later and make an evening of it at the shops and restaurants lining 2nd.

Our food collection point is on site at the event at the "Wells Fargo corner" of 2nd and Livingston, which is also the start of the procession route.

For those that want to have dinner. One suggestion Apango on 5325 E. 2nd Street. They donated food to the phone back for No on 8 in Long Beach. Very supportive.

This is a fantastic idea. I will definitely be there wearing a white knot and will try to somehow make a t-shirt.

Just a note about The White Knot Campaign. Its website is www.whiteknot.org (not .com).

Just a question. How are we identifying ourselves. My understanding was that we were encouraged to wear some sort of t-shirts or something to make who we are known. I was wondering about "white knots". The White Knot campaign (www.whiteknot.com) is the symbol for marriage equality. It takes two traditional symbols of marriage—white and tying the knot—and combines them in a simple way to show support for the right of gays and lesbians to marry. All loving couples deserve the same legal rights, benefits, and respect that civil marriage bestows. If we all wore white knots, we can peacefully identify that we are advocating for our right to "tie the knot", it is unobtrusive, but makes the point, and if people ask we can tell them about it. I already have about 100 made. What do you think??? P.S. Is there a way to link this with "facebook", because we can spread this around really quickly if we had that accessibility.

Thanks for taking up the cause and getting something going in Long Beach, I will advertise it to everyone I know, and our Advocacy Group at my church.
